Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) has announced the introduction of a Living Wage in line with the government’s aspirations.
In a media release, BOCRA stated that with effect from 1 July 2025 it embraced the government’s call for a P4000 Living Wage by adjusting employee salaries for its contracted companies. BOCRA noted that this applies to 40 workers providing outsourced services like cleaning, guarding and security services who all now earn a minimum of P4000.“BOCRA extended the gesture in line with the Government’s policy direction of improving livelihoods. BOCRA believes that the move will not only enhance the livelihoods of the employees concerned but also support the Government in its quest to foster an inclusive society,” stated the authority.
According to BOCRA, this further aligns with Pillar 1 of the national Transformation Strategy Framework on Sustainable Economic Development which prioritises Human and Social Development for an inclusive society. BOCRA stated that, as part of its 2024-2029 Strategic Plan, it subscribes to inclusivity.BOCRA adds to the list of organisation’s which continue to hid the clarion call by President Duma Gideon Boko for social transformation which places human rights and dignity at the fore of economic growth.
