Preparations are in full swing for the much-anticipated Miss Clap and Tap 2025, set to take place on 23rd August 2025.
More than just a pageant, the event is a faith-rooted cultural empowerment initiative that uplifts young women in the clap and tap music fraternity, blending tradition, spirituality, and purpose.
According to event organiser Oarabile Thobogang, at least 38 choirs from across the country have received formal invitations to participate. Thobogang said that there was a growing wave of excitement among communities as the event draws closer. This year’s theme, “Restoring Dignity, Reclaiming Purpose: Empowering Women Beyond the Stage,” underscores the transformational mission of the platform.
“This is not just about performance,” said Thobogang . “It’s a life-changing experience aimed at building women who can stand with dignity both in ministry and in society—boldly addressing social ills such as gender-based violence, inequality, and lack of access to opportunities.”
Participants in this year’s edition are currently undergoing an intensive induction process, which includes spiritual mentorship, leadership training, and personal development. The event prioritizes empowering women not only in their musical talents but in their spiritual, economic, and social lives.
As part of its broader mission, Miss Clap and Tap Botswana also drives charity work and economic empowerment programs. These initiatives target clap and tap queens and choir members, ensuring their voices are amplified not just in song, but also in entrepreneurship, community service, and advocacy.
Thobogang expressed confidence that this year’s event will leave a lasting impact. “This is a movement—grounded in faith, rich in culture, and powerful in purpose. We are restoring dignity and reclaiming purpose, one woman at a time.”
