Botswana’s Youth Set to Benefit from Major Partnership: Ghanzi Youth Centre First in Line for Refurbishment

Botswana’s Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs has announced a significant partnership with Diacore Gaborone Marathon, set to bring about a nationwide refurbishment of Youth Centres, starting with the Ghanzi Youth Centre. The initiative aims to provide safe, empowering, and resourceful spaces for young people across the country, fostering skill development and community contribution.

The announcement was made by Lesego Chombo, who expressed pride in the collaboration. The Ministry’s decision to commence the refurbishment program in Ghanzi underscores a deliberate commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that opportunities and resources reach regions that have historically been underserved.

The Ministry acknowledges the need to extend opportunities and resources to regions that are often underserved, ensuring that young people in all parts of the country can access safe, empowering and resourceful spaces to develop their skills and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the larger economy.

Diacore Gaborone Marathon will be sponsoring the refurbishment of the Ghanzi Youth Centre, a move that has been met with heartfelt gratitude from the Ministry. A heartfelt thank you to Diacore for investing in the future of our young people – together, we are building stronger communities, one centre at a time. Re lebogago! Chombo added, emphasising the collaborative spirit of the project.

This public-private partnership is seen as a crucial step towards youth empowerment and gender and youth development in Botswana. By revitalising these centres, the Ministry and Diacore aim to create environments where young people can thrive, gain valuable skills, and become active, contributing members of their communities. The refurbishment of the Ghanzi Youth Centre marks the beginning of what is hoped to be a transformative journey for youth development across the nation.
