Vice President and Minister of Finance Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe is set to undertake a series of high-level engagements in London from September 17 to 18, 2026, as Botswana seeks to position its economy and investment opportunities within the evolving global economic landscape.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, Gaolathe’s engagements will focus on Botswana’s economic outlook, investment potential and efforts to build a more resilient and sustainable economy.
On September 17, Gaolathe will address Chatham House under the theme, “Botswana’s Future: Economic Resilience Amid Global Uncertainty.”
The engagement is expected to provide Gaolathe with a platform to outline Botswana’s economic outlook, discuss the country’s response to prevailing global economic conditions and present its priorities for strengthening economic resilience and sustainability.
Still in London, on September 18, Gaolathe will lead Botswana’s participation in Botswana Day at the London Stock Exchange, where he will take part in the opening of trading and engage with investors, financial institutions and other key stakeholders.
The London programme is intended to showcase Botswana’s investment potential and communicate the country’s development priorities to international investors and financial institutions.
Overall the ministry said the engagements would also provide an opportunity to discuss financing requirements and investment opportunities emerging from National Development Plan 12 (NDP 12) and the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP).
The engagements will place particular emphasis on economic diversification, private sector development and increasing private sector participation in the economy.
This is against the backdrop of Botswana’s efforts to broaden its sources of economic growth and investment while navigating an evolving global economic environment.
To achieve this, the government has identified economic diversification and greater private sector participation as important areas in its development priorities, with NDP 12 and BETP providing frameworks for advancing these objectives.
Further, the finance ministry said the London engagements would strengthen Botswana’s engagement with international investors and financial institutions while creating a platform to communicate the country’s investment and development priorities.
