President Duma Boko called for policy reforms aimed at driving economic transformation during the Botswana National Front (BNF) Special Policy Conference held on Saturday.
The conference brought together party members to deliberate on the party’s policy direction, review existing positions, and consider proposed changes aimed at strengthening its approach to key national issues.
Boko’s call for reforms placed economic transformation at the centre of the discussions, highlighting the importance of reviewing policy frameworks to ensure they supported Botswana’s development ambitions and responded to the needs of Batswana.
The deliberations provided an opportunity for the BNF to assess whether its existing policy positions were aligned with the demands of a changing economy and to identify reforms that could support sustainable growth, economic diversification, and improved livelihoods.
Economic transformation remained a key national priority as Botswana sought to broaden its economic base, reduce dependence on traditional revenue sources, and create opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship, and investment.
Through the policy review process, party members examined how the BNF’s policy direction could contribute to building a more inclusive economy, where economic opportunities were accessible to a wider section of the population.
The conference also provided a platform for strengthening internal policy coordination and developing approaches that responded to Botswana’s long-term economic and social development objectives.
Boko’s emphasis on reform underscored the importance of aligning political policy with practical economic outcomes, particularly in areas that could stimulate productive activity, expand employment opportunities, and improve the living standards of citizens.
The conference discussions were expected to help shape the party’s policy direction and strengthen its position on national development priorities, particularly its role in advancing Botswana’s economic transformation.
