Botswana Parliament Prepares for Critical Winter Session

The Parliament of Botswana is poised to commence its 3rd Meeting of the 1st Session of the 13th Parliament, commonly referred to as the Winter Meeting, on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 1400 hours. This crucial legislative period, scheduled to conclude on or around Friday, August 15, 2025, is anticipated to be a rigorous six-week deliberation on matters of national importance.

The central imperative of this session, as outlined by the Parliament of Botswana, will be the meticulous introduction and presentation of Bills. In strict adherence to the Constitution of Botswana, the legislature’s fundamental responsibility is to enact robust laws that underpin peace, uphold order, and ensure sound governance. This critical legislative mandate will be meticulously executed through the diligent presentation of both Private and Government Bills by Members of Parliament.

Beyond the vital function of law-making, the Winter Meeting will address other significant parliamentary business. This includes the process of parliamentary questions, through which the executive is held accountable, and the presentation of motions, which serve to bring pressing national issues to the forefront for considered debate and resolution.
