RENEWED HOPE AS TATAKI MINE OPENS TODAY

In a move anticipated to reignite economic activity in Francistown and surrounding areas, the Tataki Mine, formerly Tati Nickel Mine, will be officially opened today.

The new mine will be officially opened by President Duma Gideon Boko. The mine is expected to start production after nearly a decade since it was last closed under the previous Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) led government. Now owned by the Global Critical Resources Corporation (CRG Group), the mine is located in the North-East district of Botswana near the Zimbabwe borderline.

According to President Boko, the resuscitation of the mine will bring about jobs, skills and improve the livelihoods of those within the mining area. Boko said the mine will aid national development.

“The reopening of mines is a critical piece of the puzzle in building a diversified, inclusive, and prosperous economy,” said Boko via a statement on his social media platforms.

With over 400 anticipated jobs, the mine has been hailed as just what the doctor ordered for the “City of All Things Precious”, as Francistown is otherwise known. The mine is billed to bolster the region’s economic activity and reignite hope as the nation continues to navigate economic stormy waters in the wake of current economic headwinds.
