Botswana Government Invests Over P3 Billion in Higher Education to Empower Future Generations

The Government of Botswana has reaffirmed its commitment to education as a key driver of national development, allocating over P3 billion to tertiary education financing for the 2025/26 financial year.

This was revealed earlier today by Minister of Education and Skills Development, Prince Maele, during the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) graduation ceremony held in Palapye.

In his opening remarks, Minister Maele emphasised that the government views education as a powerful tool to transform lives, empower industries, and shape the nation’s destiny. He noted that the substantial investment reflects Botswana’s long-term vision to build a knowledge-based and inclusive economy in line with Vision 2036.
