Boosting Law Enforcement: State Recommits to Police Support Systems

Assistant Minister for State President, Defence and Security, Maipelo Mophuting-Dikoloti, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening support systems for the Botswana Police Service to ensure officers have the resources they need to effectively carry out their duties.

Speaking during parliamentary proceedings, Mophuting-Dikoloti said one of the key issues raised by Members of Parliament was the need to equip police officers with the necessary tools and support to enhance their effectiveness in safeguarding the public.

She acknowledged the concerns expressed during the debate, noting that the government recognises the vital role played by law enforcement officers in maintaining peace, security, and public order across the country.

The Assistant Minister said the government remains committed to adopting a careful and practical approach to improving the systems that support police officers, with ongoing efforts aimed at ensuring they are adequately equipped to perform their responsibilities.

Mophuting-Dikoloti also paid tribute to the dedication and professionalism of Botswana’s men and women in uniform, thanking them for their continued service and sacrifice in protecting communities.

She emphasised that strengthening support for the police is an important investment in national security and public safety, adding that the government values the contribution of officers who work tirelessly to keep the nation safe.
