President Advocate Duma Boko has reaffirmed Botswana’s commitment to strengthening partnerships across Africa after welcoming Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly, and his delegation to the Office of the President for high-level discussions on cooperation in the mining, petroleum, and energy sectors.
Boko, speaking during the high-level engagement, said the two countries are taking a significant step towards deepening bilateral relations through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement will provide a structured framework for collaboration in mineral exploration, energy development, technical skills transfer, innovation, and institutional capacity building.
The President noted that technical engagements between Botswana and Côte d’Ivoire are already underway, adding that the partnership is now moving beyond commitments to practical implementation that will deliver tangible benefits for both nations.
President Boko said the collaboration reflects Botswana’s vision of purposeful African cooperation, where countries work together to strengthen key industries, attract investment, and unlock new economic opportunities for their citizens.
He added that the partnership is expected to contribute to sustainable economic growth by promoting knowledge sharing, enhancing technical expertise, and supporting the development of competitive mining and energy sectors in both Botswana and Côte d’Ivoire.
The visit underscores Botswana’s continued efforts to build strategic partnerships across the continent as part of its broader agenda to drive industrialisation, economic diversification, and shared prosperity through regional cooperation.
